  • Alexis Bajot-Nercessian Trio performs vibrant and melodic contemporary jazz, shaped by an imaginative sound world infused with Eastern colors. Blending lyrical melodies with sharp, dynamic rhythms, the trio creates a joyful and poetic musical language inspired by the Middle East, the Balkans, and Latin America.
Driven by Bajot-Nercessian's evocative writing, enriched by Pierre Demange's inventive drumming and the haunting sound of the duduk, and grounded by Hugo Rivière's expressive double bass, the trio delivers performances that are lyrical, energetic, and full of unexpected musical turns.

    Pierre Demange

    drums and duduk

Trained first in sound engineering (BTS in Audiovisual, Lycom, 2009), then in music for picture (SATIS, 2012), Pierre Demange entered the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional (CRR) de Paris, where he refined his study of drums and jazz. Passionate about percussion, he met and trained with Maré Sanogo (djembe soloist of the National Ballet of Mali) and Yvan Ormond (Senegalese sabar tradition). A devoted duduk player as well, he studies this emblematic instrument of Armenian culture with Artyom Minassian.

He was named Best Instrumentalist of the Year at the Euroradio Jazz Competition 2019 playing drums with Nefertiti Quartet.

    Alexis Bajot-Nercessian

    piano, synth, compositions

Alexis Bajot-Nercessian is a pianist with an unusual background: first an engineer, then a diplomat, he travelled across Latin America and lived in Central Asia and Russia before becoming a musician.

He then pursued a dual course of study at the Conservatoire de Montreuil and at the Bill Evans Piano Academy and furthered his study of harmony at the CRR de Paris.

In 2017 he founded the band LOWN, which became a finalist at Jazz à la Défense in 2018.

Today Alexis also performs as a sideman in a range of projects, from world-music-inspired jazz, to contemporary jazz, jazz-funk, latin soul, pop.

    Hugo Rivière

    double bass

Hugo Rivière joined the American School of Modern Music in 2006. He studied with Christopher Culpo, Rick Margitza, and Peter Giron.

He continued his studies at the CRR de Paris and Pôle Sup’93.

Hugo Rivière is a solid accompanist who works across numerous jazz projects and styles. Alongside this, he works for the contemporary circus company “Rouages” and composes and performs the music for several of its shows.

He is also a teacher at the conservatoire de musique d'Eaubonne.

  • Original trio

The trio came into being in 2024, but the three musicians have been playing together for almost ten years through the "LOWN" project (trio/sextet) and other shared experiences. This new trio repertoire offers a wide variety of sonic landscapes: intensely dynamic passages, as well as moments of contemplative poetry led by the sounds of the duduk and the bowed double bass.
